The Story

Battle of the Pit

17 months ago, creatures from the The Depths began to crawl of the Rift of Celais once more. For 2 months, abominations from deep below raided nearby farms and towns before the incursion ended. Of the aftershocks after the Great Incursion, many consider the Battle of the Pit to be among the worst. When the forces of King Reinnis arrived, they found the city of Krisbell overtaken. They managed to clear the city and nearby settlements, but the city was in ruins and the populace too low to rebuild. Most of the survivors either settled in the Dark Woods or returned to the capital with the King's forces.

Neris Outpost

Surrounding an ancient, stone watchtower from the Great Incursion lies a small settlement of ~50. Many are survivors of the Battle of the Pit, while some are vagabounds that decided to settle with the group. Neris was founded by a group of 3 alchemists from Krisbell. After seeing the number of survivors that decided to not leave their home, they chose to stay and care for the group. With no farmers, the outpost relies heavily on trade and scavenging to survive.

Notable NPCs:

Nolan, Alchemist

Gale, Doctor

Notable Locations:

Ruins of Krisbell

Rebuilding was deemed too costly and dangerous by the engineers of the capitol so they collapsed the city's gates, but it did little to deter those seeking a quick fortune. Less than a year after the Battle of the Pit, almost every house, shop, and warehouse was already picked clean by looters. Finding anything valuable is a rare occurance, though denizens of the outpost often venture in to collecy supplies like lumber and stone.

Field of the Fallen

Many soldiers died before ever breaching the walls of Krisbell. Countless died clearing a way for their fellow soldiers, not knowing the city was already far beyond saving. Their bodies were dragged to a nearby hillside to keep the path open as the seige continued. Once Krisbell was won, the bodies of both the fallen soldiers and civilians were laid to rest atop the hills, creating what was eventually known as the Field of the Fallen.
